sizing help
Each costume manufacturer uses a different size chart. You will find this size chart on your child's costume webpage; just scroll to the bottom of the page to find it. Use your child’s measurement to pick the best size for your child and allow room for growth. If in doubt, always order up a size. All the costumes we choose are made specifically for dance recitals. They are generally made of fabric that stretches to allow for growth in height and weight. They come with straps that can be adjusted to various lengths. Our goal is to have a costume that fits your child well on the day of the show. It is a bonus if they can wear it for months/ years to come, but no one can guarantee that. Please note that the size of your child's costume may be different than her normal clothing size. Each costume company provides a very specific sizing chart that is used exclusively for their costumes. They do not necessarily coincide with store-bought clothing sizes. You will see the size chart online when you select your costume. Dance costumes are made to order (they do not make them until they are ordered) but are not custom made for size. The measurements we take are used to determine the appropriate size (extra- small child through extra-large adult). common mistakes
One common mistake is to choose a size that is too small. When consulting your size chart, if the measurements span two different sizes, always size up. Additionally, if your child is still growing, consider ordering up a size. It is always easier to alter a costume that is too large than too small. size options
Costume manufacturers have started charging more for their adult and plus-size costumes. To avoid across-the-board cost increases, $5.00 - $10.00 will be added to adult and plus size costumes. too big/too small
When you receive your costume, please try it on your dancer as soon as possible. If the costume you ordered is too big, you may consider making alterations rather than exchanging the costume. The parent is responsible for any adjustments to the costume (i.e. attach straps or tack pieces with safety pins or needle/thread). If the costume is the wrong size and cannot be altered, you may be able to make an exchange. See the Exchanges page for information on how to make an exchange. |
