Dance Etc.'s competition teams wins at Showstopper competition in Columbus, OH

Dance Etc. Wins in Columbus, OH

On April 4-6, dancers competed at Showstopper competition in Columbus, OH. Coming in tops were:
  • In the Mini Division: acro/tumbling team "Funky Frogs" came in third place;
  • In the Junior Division: acro/tumbling team "Once Upon a Time" came in seventh place; jazz team "Free Ride" under the direction of Anne Kramer came in 8th place
  • In the Senior Division: jazz team "Oya Como Va" came in seventh, pointe team "Freedom" came in sixth, tap team "Junk Lab" and acro/tumbling team "Push The Limits" tied for fourth; ballet team "Masterpiece" and lyrical team "Gates" tied for second place; and hip-hop team "The Following Is Not a Test" came in first place!
Dance Etc.'s Free Ride routine wins top advanced junior group at Star Systems competition in Indianapolis, IN March 15-16

Dance Etc. Wins in Indianapolis, IN

On March 14-15, dancers won big at Star Systems competition! Coming in tops were:
  • In the Junior Intermediate Division: large group hip-hop team "Jump," under the direction of Veronica Day;
  • In the Junior Advanced Large Group Division: large group jazz team "Free Ride," under the direction of Anne Kramer;
  • In the Mini Group Division: large group acro/tumbling team "Once Upon a Time," under the direction of Catherine Bissett.
  • All three instructors (Anne Kramer, Catherine Bissett, and Veronica Day) won "Top Teacher" awards.

Dance Etc. Wins in Huntington, WV

On March 2, dancers took their solos and groups to Huntington, WV to compete against others for top awards. In the Intermediate Division, Kieran Conway won 5th overall, Elizabeth Johnson won 4th overall, and Kelley Byrne won 3rd overall with their solos. In the Elite Division, Claire Wolfe, Monica Hannan, Jessica Bloomer and Tori Patrice placed in the top 10, with Tori Patrice winning top solo! The group "Oye Como Va" took top scoring group in the Intermediate Division, and the Elite group "Harem" was awarded Best Costume! Congratulations to everyone!

Dance Etc. Students Perform for Girl Scout Council

On January 21, dancers from Dance Etc. performed for the youth conference, hosted annually by the Girl Scouts Great Rivers Council. The theme of the conference was "Behind the Mask," how to make it through high school, breaking from labels and defining yourself how you want to be seen. In the Dance Etc.'s spirit of being "the Fun Place to Learn," each dancer dressed up and acted as a different character, yet showing how individuals can still perform and get along as a team. The dancers are from "The Company," one of Dance Etc.'s competitive groups. Owner and Artistic Director Anne Kramer is pictured in the center.

Christopher Day Performs in the Nutcracker

Dance Etc.'s former student Christopher Day continues to audition in various cities for jobs as a dancer. He is now working with an agent in Nashville; and through his agent was recently hired to be the lead male dancer in the Green Hill School's presentation of "The Nutcracker" which was performed at Tenessee's Performing Arts Center in Nashville. The routine featured partnering and lifts, which he learned at Dance Etc. He is pictured here with the leading female dancer.

D.E. Elves Perform at Eastgate Mall

Dance Etc. Performs at Eastgate Mall!

Students dressed up like elves and brought holiday cheer to children and shoppers at Eastgate Mall on December 23. The one-hour dance program was part of Eastgate Mall's efforts to make the shopping experience more festive during holiday time. The eight dancers are part of Dance Etc.'s competition company, and range in age from 13 to 18. Dances included: "Let it Snow," "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," "Santa Baby," and "Zat You, Santa Claus?" choreographed by Anne Kramer.

On January 6, 2008 students of Dance Etc. went to SEM Villa Retirement Community in Milford to perform various routines for the residents. The students ranged in age from 6 to 16.

Dance Etc. Wins Small Business of the Year Award!


Dance Etc. is the proud recipient of the 2007 Small Business of the Year!! Attended by over a hundred people from the business Milford/Miami Township community, the COVER Awards dinner recognizes the achievments of small and large businesses, volunteerism and life time achievement in the region. We owe this honor to our great staff and dedicated students, without whom this would not have been possible.

Great news! Dance Etc. has been featured in the nationally distributed trade magazine, Dance Teacher, November 2007 issue! The article features an interview with Owner/Artistic Director Anne Kramer, and how to choreograph, costume, and choose music for for competition routines. D.E. Dancers Featured in Cincinnati Ballet's "The Nutcracker"


Four of our dancers were selected to perform in the Cincinnati Ballet Company's production of "The Nutcracker." They are: (from left to right) Kelsey Krenwinkel (age 12), Emily Riesenberg (age 13), Ericka deHaan (age 11) and Sydney Burton (age 10). The fact that dancers from our studio were chosen affirms that our ballet training is top notch! We offer quality training by the best instructors around, including members of the Cincinnati Ballet Company! Congratulations to these lovely, talented dancers!

Food Drive

Dance Etc. Students Collect and Donate Canned Goods


Dance Etc. recently participated in a Food Drive to benefit the Loveland Interfaith Food Effort (LIFE). Students were able to collect over 400 cans for the effort!





Veronica Day

Dance Etc. Hires New Dance Director


Dance Etc. has hired a new Director of Dance - Miss Veronica Day, a graduate of Ball State University with a dance degree. She started dancing at the age of 5, and joined competition teams at the age of 9. Her solos, duets and groups regularly scored in the top 5 at competitions, including the top scoring duet at Starbound in 2002, and the top scoring group at Rainbow Nationals in Branson in 2003. She took private dance classes from "Elec" (STOMP tap dancer), and took a tap workshop in NYC studying with Gil Stroming, Mike Minery, and Rojelio Douglas. She performed in an off-Broadway tap show called "Break the Floor." She performed with the Cincinnati Ballet Company in The Nutcracker for two years. Currently she guest-teaches at Dance Etc. in ballet, tap, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, jazz and swing dancing and is a demonstrator for the Ball State Swing Society. She has also assisted with and choreographed for Dance Etc.'s competition teams. She choreographed in college both for Ball State and University of Akron. She also is a seamstress and loves to design and create dance costumes. She is also experienced in sign language (5 years), and is CPR certified.

This summer, Dance Etc. remodeled and added a dancewear/gift shop! The shop features competitively priced leotards, tights, shoes, accessories, unique gifts and more. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered and spent many hours making this renovation happen.
