Ballet is the "basis for all dance." In these classes, dancers learn technique, grace, strength and poise.
Basic positions of the feet and arms, proper alignment, ballet vocabulary, barre exercises and center work will be taught and reviewed in depth. This class will break down the steps and provide students with exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles.
The very beginner class is just an introduction to ballet, and is only 30 minutes. When students get older their classes get longer, eventually up to 90 minutes. We also offer pointe classes for those who are ready, usually at the age of 12, if the student has had serious ballet training. Placement should be made by a Dance Etc. instructor.

Tap
We offer tap classes for beginner through advanced, and even adult classes! There is nothing more fun than tappin' to the beat. It's easy and fun!
We teach both Rhythm tap and Broadway tap styles:
- Rhythm tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork, creating a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet. Just like jazz vocalists who add rhythms to music by scatting, tappers add their voice by "scatting" with their feet. Rhythm tap tends to be a heavier or harder-hitting form of tap than Broadway tap, and sounds are made not only with the bottom of the shoe, but also with the back, sides, and tip. Rhythm tap is a broad category that encompasses the hoofing styles of current stars such as Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines and past masters such as Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and Jimmy Slyde.
- Broadway tap, like rhythm tap, focuses on rhythm, syncopation, and style. However, technically, Broadway tap utilizes a lifted center, an incorporation of jazz movement, as well as an emphasis on the usage of upper body and arms. Theatricality and performance qualities are taught. Specific steps in Broadway tap include maxi fords, Buffalos, Cincinnatis, time steps, Irishes, and several other steps focused upon during the age of Broadway and big band swing. Broadway tap is fun, energetic, and a great way to learn what all those Broadway gypsies do.
Beginner classes start at just 30 minutes, intermediates 45 minutes, and advanced and adult classes are usually 60 minutes. Placement should be made by a Dance Etc. instructor.
What to wear: Black leotard, black shorts or pants. Black flat heeled tap shoes are preferred. Adults may wear comfortable clothing.
