Choosing a Dance Studio Dance Floor Dance is a very physical activity that requires a lot of jumping, which can put stress on bones and joints.
Most dance footwear does not provide any cushioning or support, so the shock of dance movement can place a lot of pressure on the knees and back of a dancer. The best way to prevent against potential injury is by choosing a studio with proper professional flooring that has high-density foam, to absorb the shock of jumping. Never dance or tumble on concrete! Instruction Consider the experience, training and teaching background of the faculty. Also take note of professional training and performance history. Tuition Many people look for the least expensive classes, without comparing the quality of the programs. Most recreational-type classes, offered at community parks and recreation facilities, are introductory classes at best. They may cost less than that of a private dance school, but are usually taught by less experienced teachers. Class Size Note the size of the class and ratio of students to instructors. Are there trained assistants in the classroom? Atmosphere/Environment Is the physical setting of the studio pleasing to you? Does it make you feel like dancing? Does it appear as if the students are having fun?
Our Facility
Dance Etc. is a 9,000 sq. ft. air-conditioned facility, including three dance rooms and two tumbling areas.
The mirrored dance studios each feature
large parent viewing windows.
The state-of-the-art flooring is by
Stagestep, featuring a suspended wood
subfloor covered with a Marley surface.
Marley provides resilient non-slip surface
that absorbs noise and creates an insulation
barrier, keeping the floor warm to the touch.
Our children's dance room features custom painted designs; each of the characters painted on the walls represent a different ballet step that will be taught to the young students. The studio is also filled with every prop imaginable (from umbrellas and tutus to scarves and hula hoops) that we use for kids' lesson plans.
Our two tumbling areas also feature large parent viewing windows. Our smaller room is designed and custom-painted specifically for kids. We have multiple wedge and octagon shaped mats, a child-size turning bar and much more.
Our gymnasium features high ceilings, a 42' x 42' Olympic style tumbling floor, an in-ground trampoline, and in-ground tumbling pit. We also have multiple wedge and octagon shaped mats, spring board and "Air Trak". The air trak is an inflatable versatile piece of equipment that provides a soft landing,
allowing more repetitions with less stress to joints. We also feature a wood floor for those needing to worn on obtaining tumbling tricks on a hard surface.
To assist the tumblers in learning, we also feature an overhead spotting rig above the trampoline. This enables a student learning a new trick to have more time in the air before landing.
In our lobby, we also provide a comfortable place to relax, read or watch performance videos. Our bulletin boards always have the latest information, news and upcoming events. Our front desk area is the place to go for a friendly smile, information, or to pick up your favorite Dance Etc. gear.
